Wow! What a presentation. It's one of the most important pieces of knowledge we all should have--how to keep ourselves well by preparing and eating healthy food. Sounds simple, but it's sobering to realize how many of us don't do it. I hope this movement and impassioned folks like Jamie are successful in getting our attention and helping us understand that we have a problem and we can be part of the solution. Great post. And a wonderful presentation by Jamie. Thanks for sharing with all of us.

I do not get this whole TED thing. But Jamie and his speech are awesome. Thanks for the heads up Expat.

Thanks for posting - it was fantastic. Do any of you ever watch his show? Although he is straight and has a wife and kids, he has this kind of horseplay type of interaction with many of his guy guests. It is fun.

I watch Jamie's show whenever I can, and I've always found him to be fascinating and incredibly sexy. His presentation to the TED attendees has only deepened my respect for him.

I prefer to watch and listen to someone like Chef Gordon Ramsay who is far more knowledgable and more skillful in the kitchen than that crud of a bloke, Jamie Oliver.

Except Gorden Ramsay is racist and homophobic. Just ask the people that work for him.

Look the remarks he made in Australia, he has already apologised for. As for the people who work for him, the story that stands out for me is the one that was reported in the press about three years ago now. The restaurant that Ramsay owns in Chelsea, Great Britain happened to have an employee who was a Muslim and he was on the receiving of some racialist statements by some of his fellow employees. Due to what he deemed as an unfair job dismissal, he sued Gordon Ramsay Holdings for 50,000 sterling. Now Ramsay himself was not implicated. As a result Claire Lynn who at the time was head of human resources at Gordon Ramsay Holding held a meeting with senior staff and warned that any racial suggestions or slurs would not be tolerated and that was the end of it.

The reputation of Gordon Ramsay over the years have caused some controversary as he has hyperactive passion for what he does and takes offense to criticism. Personally I dont think he's a racialist at all. He owns different sorts of restaurants in different countries. Obviously since his homebase is in Great Britain, he employees many people for his restaurants and quite a number of those employees are people of colour. If he had such racial prejudice he wouldnt travel to look for the best potential chefs worldwide and employee them in his restaurants. Again I'll state that I dont think Gordon Ramsay is a racialist. Besides if he was, so bloody what and who gives a toss. Here is the bottom line, he's still more talented than that pillak of a tosser, Jamie Oliver

Pillock

Brit slang a stupid or annoying person

[from Scandinavian dialect pillicock penis]

pillak (from Urban Dictionary)

An insult used by a person who is so stupid that they can't spell the word 'pillock'. Usually follows a round of non-sensical insults such as 'your mum' and 'your face'.

"your|sic|..erm..a big steaming pillak"

----

Tosser = wanker

----
