when will these two devastating wars end? Our arrogance and greediness are making people suffer... so sad..

I was a teary eyed mess trying to drive home in the rain. This was an experience I'll never forget.

At the risk of driving this thread to the "political" thread... remember that this thread was for the fallen and those that were able to come back home... Take your rant on the right or wrong of the "wars" in a proper forum.

The men and women that serve our nation deserve our support. Right or wrong...

well

I think you misunderstood me. I respect the men and women that serve our country.

It was the Bush administration's policy to prohibit photographers from the sites of returning coffins. This is not something I am proposing. This is fact.

Our "esteemed" Prime Minister - Stephen Harper - also tried initially to prohibit the photographing of returning caskets of the our servicemen slain in Afghanistan. I don't recall what defeated his prohibition, probably public sentiment, but it is no longer the case.

Why do these so-called leaders think the ostrich head-in-the-sand routine will work in this day & age?

Sorry my bad in not understanding where you were going in your response before...

Sometimes there is little we can do to drive the "debate" on the right or wrong of the debate of a "war". What is good to hear is that many are willing to realize that the men and women out there are just filling their call to their nation - right or wrong. It is up to the rest of us to make sure is it is for the right reasons.

Let's also remember that the men and women who serve volunteered for this duty knowing the risks. Which makes any loss all the more meaningful.

Amen to that... Living in the area that we both do - we are reminded of that each day. It some times takes stories like the one you shared to make us pause.

And what was the policy in the administration prior?

A beautiful story, well told. You have real gifts for observation and with words, ArVaGuy.

Don't you both love and hate when this happens? I was on the subway the other day and there was this young middle eastern guy who just about took my breath away. I didn't even know I was attracted to middle eastern guys. He was absolutely stunning. He just sat there and I wanted so much to reach out and touch him and leave him a note. It was SOOOOOO pathetic. The funny thing is that no one else seemed to be taking notice of him.

Then the train slowly emptied of its passengers until only a few of us were left. He got up and stretched out his arms between the two metal bars at the doors of the subway car. His shirt hiked up revealing perfect abs and a nice hair trail and his biceps were flexing. I really thought I was going to wet my pants.

Alas, he didn't get off at my stop but I came so close to getting off (sorry) at his stop and following him. Of course, he was probably straight (aren't they always) and had a wife and 3 kids.

I have to admit this is happening to me with more frequency. Am I getting old?
