Rick, I am sorry you had to go through that. I do not see why people would rehash the subject. However, I think that I have some sense about the subject for anyone who is reading this thread. This is not Wal-Mart. Clients do not just ask for what they want over the counter. Moreover, yes, clients are scarred and paranoid. I have seen clients very apprehensive about giving me money and then, to complicate matters more, they apologize repeatedly insisting that I keep the money and forget the whole issue. They do not seem cheap and they do not want to bet burned. It is a real catch 22 in the minds of the clients, I believe. Words of advise however: the escort does not want to burn you or seem petty. Actually, The only result is the escort ends up feeling bad for causing the client mental aguish, and semi-pissed for having to feel like he is cheating the client in some way. One thing that they must understand is that in the meantime, the escort is patiently standing by while the client makes up his mind. It seemed like you, Rick, were on standby for two years until this gentleman figured out what it was that he really wanted: his money back.

I am in the process of working this isue through myself.

Case in point, Client emails from Palm Springs and requests an overnight visit, I informed him I just purchased a new bike and do not want to take it on a long rode trip just yet so I will rent a car, I do not charge him extra for the car because it in not his problem my trasportation choice is a crotch rocket, I rent a car, pack and head out of town for a two hour drive and get a call stating he needs to cancel because he forgot the following day was Fathers Day. Do I charge a cancelation fee, if so HOW?

If I cancel an appointment, I reschedule at a reduced fee of 50% no questions asked, if I do not perform as was agreed upon the session is free. Thank god the later has happened once in 2 years. I feel this is fair practice of business as we do charge a decent amount of money for our time. Your Opinions?

RE: Common Courtesy

Say what u will, I don't know the truth of the matter, but keeping the whole $1200 has always seemd to me to be too harsh, too much, over the top. Even if the guy cancelled more than once. But what caught my eye was the fact of Rick's consistency in always being professional on these boards. If so, what was the hoopla over the voting on the Escort of the Year awards, and why was his position demoted in the rankings?

RE: Common Courtesy

*It seems to me this is a risk escorts take if they want to use the message center to promote their business*

In the past 2 years of escorting I have made money off of 3 posters here.

Not really a good advertising tool if you ask me

My opinion: A+

It's a great business policy that demonstrates up front a professional attitude. FOr the most part these situations are under your control or at least your responsibility and you choose to deliver as testified to by the few times you have had to make adjustments. I know, shit happens, but for repsonsible people who plan accordingly it happens seldom and overall the lost compensation on the 'adjustment' is small compared to the good will and hopefully added business that policy generates.

There do seem to be some irresponsible clients out there just as there are some irresonsible escorts. Think I've pointed that out on occasion.

Never cancelled or no-showed myself (probably 50+ appts) and only had two no show escorts - that I recall. Have had a couple of late cancellations (very late) but, hey, I'm a nice guy. :-) I thought they were legitmate, more or less, at the time but later circumstances cause me to wonder.

If I were an escort, I would insist that out-of-pocket expenses be pre-paid. As a client, I certainly think that's reasonable, and I don't think that a legitimate client would have a problem with this. When I've hired escorts for trips, I've pre-paid their airfare, and other needed expenses, such as shuttle to the airport. What I won't do is send a deposit for escort services. We've all seen how unwise that is.

Bottom line is, if a client is serious about spending the $$ for an extended hire, he should have a problem covering your expenses up-front. Of course, if you want to rent a car and go to PS anyways, that's up to you...

sadly, that's the nature of the beast in this game.
