The article regarding Blade Thompson's arrest, which revealed his real name, reminded me of this question I've had. I've seen escorts on all ends of the spectrum regarding stalking fears. I missed having an appointment with one escort because he was so afraid of stalkers (despite doing in-calls), that he wouldn't give me his address, but rather insisted I meet him outside a subway station. On the other hand, I've hired a couple of escorts who use their real first and last name, and say they've never had problems.

It would seem that any escort who does in-calls could be subject to stalkers, whether or not he uses his real name. I mean if someone really wanted to stalk an escort, he wouldn't hesitate to pay the in-call fee once to find out where the potential stalkee lived.

I've also been surprised by the number of Playgirl models and Men's Fitness models who use their real names (I've been able to discern this in cases where the models had unusual names, and the accompanying article mentioned where they live--one can get phone numbers and addresses on the internet!). So does using a fake name make any sense from a stalking-avoidance perspective? It just doesn't seem like it would do much...

I don't feel escorts are stalked at any greater number than the general population. I find that escorts tend to feel they are of a celebrity status, well they are hustlers with a cute name.

Yes you can site example but as the person who started the thread notes there are escorts who use their real name and ahve had no problems. I know several some who use their own name, some who don't and none of have had any stalker problems. A few weird emails, a few weird phone calls but no boogy man.

Isn't it possible that there are clients who mistake an escort's attentiveness for affection and think that there is a real emotional bond? Then they stalk him, thinking he cares.

Most occupations don't require the worker to feign 'love' for their customers. I can see escorts having to worry more than the general public.

You obviously think that prostitution in general is contemptible, and you just rationalize your feelings with B.S. excuses like "it's not prostitution I dislike, it's those guys who think they're such hot shit when they're actually just whores...." blah blah blah. Ok, we get it, you've done the argument to death (but unfortunately haven't taken yourself out in the process). Shut up already.

Yes, there are some escorts who are incredibly paranoid. In eleven years of escorting, I've never had a problem with clients or anybody else stalking me and I've been on the local news, interviewed by a local magazine and had my pictures(including face pics)on a few websites. All while using my real name.

Spunk,

I apologise. There's no reason to ask someone to shutup. Just please either try to find original material OR at least take the time to argue your point and make it clearer why you hate escorts so much.

To the topic at hand:

There is an element of "celebrity" in play here, yet stalking is not overblown. We're stealing men's virginity, helping them betray their marriage vows, and spitting into the hearts of religious values they've held all their lives. You don't think some men will lash out as a result? Conversly, it's very likely they may develop an unhealthy obsession for many of the same reasons.

Gay sex is not a nonissue for most people, after all.

What article? What arrest? I'm curious. In his younger days he was one of my favorites. I promise not to become a stalker, I just want to read the article :D

I believe the article was in the "Escorts" section of the message center...
