I didn't really get into this show until this past summer when the 5th season aired starting in May. Part of it for me was the title of the show; which I think is still dorky and cumbersome.

I have always been moved by dance and music so not sure why it took me so long to get around to embracing this show, but am I ever glad I did. While some of the routines are ho hum, some are absolutely stunning and moving. The personal stories of many of the dancers and their struggles add to the emotional dynamic.

This past summer, there was a routine re: addiction and another which tackled the topic of breast cancer. Both were nothing short of breathtaking and awe inspiring, the later was a complete blubber fest for me along with the judges and the entire audience.

Tonight, another routine that dealt with overcoming ones fears was stunningly touching and beautiful. Even more so because one of the dancers, Legacy, is a kid from the streets who has no formal dance training and his only really experience is as a beat boy who performed on the streets for donations. During the audition process he was given a number to perform that moved him and awoke inside him the realization that this dance transformed something in him and were it not for this opportunity he wasn't sure what his life would become.

His back story made this particular number and watching him dance it a moving experience and so touching.

Anyway, just wanted to share those observations and if you enjoy dance, music, theatre/theatrics check it out.

I think you and David

should audition for the show!... I like to sing but not good at dancing... I almost killed an old lady who was dancing behind me at a wedding. She was really mad at me and stayed AWAY from me on the dancing floor after that. Oh well...

Heart & Soul

Yes - these dancers put their hearts & souls into these routines. You can see some of them grow tremendously over the course of the competition. And some of the guys are a treat for the eyes. I think Ryan and Legacy are very hot.

I thought that Legacy's dance last night, in which in symbolized fear, was excellent.
