This has been going on for a while...at least released pets into the wild. They've found giant snakes ripped open while trying to unsuccessfully digest an alligator.

A relatively good sized fight occurred recently within my extended family when my relatives were on vacation and the kids were left under my grandmother's supervision. I think she was left with, either the responsibility, or the permission to get rid of the pet snake. She did so by releasing it outside...which made my aunt very angry. This was in Ft. Lauderdale.

You go into the Everglades and you don't know what you might run into. Although I never ran into any of these snakes in the city areas of Miami...they'd get either ran over or probably served up LOL.

I would be cautious though, as both ft lauderdale and miami airports arent too far from the glades, does snakes on a plane come to mind :p

Snakes & Parrots

The only giant snake I saw when I lived in South Beach belonged to an exotic dancer who incorporated it into her performances. I never saw her show, but I did witness the python being fed a live rat in her bathtub!

However, I did regularly enjoy seeing colourful groups of wild parrots in the neighbourhood. They are mostly the descendants of escaped pets which have bred to form flocks. Apparently, they enjoy the narcotic effects of the Brazilian Pepper trees found locally!

Snake's Last Supper

yeah that was on the news a few years back...

I thought it was unbelievable, how a legless (and huge) snake took down the toothy gator. Thats something else....

But the gator took down the snake too since it burst. (tragic death could have been avoided had snake paid more attention to my post on vegan diet).
