Anyone know how much income some of these blogs earn? I noticed that one I check a few times a week http://www.allmaleonline.com is for sale. The price is pretty low but is it worth the investment?

Any feedback would be nice.

Ryan I can't answer your question but I wanted to say thanks for posting the link. I really like that blog and I lost the link when my other laptop got cranky with me and is currently in the shop. Now I can get a dose of good porn from one of my fav porn blogs :)

Hugs,

Greg

From what I have read, on a few blogs, not as much money as people think. In the early days of this phenomenon it was thought that successful bloggers would become millionaires typing away in their pajamas. The reality has not caught up with the theory.

There are many popular blogs out there for sure, Dlisted, Perez Hilton, and the like. Plus a good many blogs are corporate owned like the Gawker or Mediabistro groups. Gawker recently had a blood letting of staff to bring costs under control to eek out a profit. Some of these corporate blogs tend to be a temp assignment for the editors who are between opportunities.

I would say if you are interested in the product and have a passion for the subject matter there's nothing wrong with investigating the opportunity. However, due diligence is the key here so make sure that you are not over paying if you decided to go for it.

Although the seller is probably legitimate, part of the due diligence should definitely include a vigorous search for potential litigation and liabilities against the blog (or blog owner).

If one were to buy the blog (which is an entity), who knows what alleged violations could be asserted against the new owner for prior acts of the seller? Who knows what unpaid bills have been incurred by the current owner?

There are legitimate methods for carving out the assets of the existing entity and forming a new company. This would permit you to start anew without the worry of having to pay for prior acts. Forming a new corporation would be one method of insulating the buyer.

We live in a litigious world and sometimes it just does not pay to take over an existing company.

On the other hand, if due diligence provides sufficient comfort level and a buyer is willing to take the risks, by all means the entity should be purchased if that is what one wants to do.

You won't be wealthy, but I know porn blog owners that live reasonably off of their blogs. It's like almost anything, you could make money doing it...but that's not a guarantee.
