I am excited about this movie. I watched the trailer and it seems so good. It's about a famous american chef Julia Child and a blog writer Julie Powell. I am a foodie and the trailer made me hungry so I cooked fresh salmon. I love Meryl Streep, she is an amazing actress!

I can't wait to see it also. I was a little kid, and somehow, I couldn't get enogh of this lady. My family went along with me, and allowed me to hit and miss preparing her recipes and I was barely 12!!! I eventaully bought all her books and watched re-runs etc. My family still humoured me ... and now, years later, I and my friends love nothing more than when I invite them all over - and we have a delightful meal of all her recipes ... from back with Mastering the Art of French Cooking in two volumes ...mto all her other books. I have them all! Thanks for the thread ... and yes, I will go to see it again and again.... buy the dvd

Now, is there any correlation at all between why a gay teenager loved this lady so much .... and still does, years after her death.... oh yeah, you don't need to remind me, I am no longer a teenager ... but my friends are still glad I was/am obsessed,

Inpsiration

I agree, Greatness, with your anticipation for the movie and share it as well. I just bought the book yesterday for a read during my next flight. Julia Child was my inspiration almost too long ago to remember for spurning my desire to go to cooking school in France. She had a great attitude and presence of thinking about why you cook and for whom you are cooking, often believing that would make a difference in how it tastes. I had the pleasure of seeing her once live and she was a woman of spunk. I look forward to the marvelous Meryl Streep's performance and the life she will give the character. Although I am no longer a chef, Julia Child has a soft spot in my heart for what she accomplished and her philosophy on cooking.

cooking with love

I have experienced if one cooks with love, others can feel it. I have been to many luxury restaurants but the best meal for me is food cooked by my mom and friends with love. I love watching people eat, especially those I love. It just makes me happy.

No Snob either...

one of the San Francisco radio talk show hosts (who does a restaurant review program) tells a winsome story of Julia child appreciating a great Hot Dog. (NO ... NOT THAT KIND!)
