New Years in Montreal...??

I'm looking for info on Montreal for this coming New Years celebrations. Do they have some place where they ring in the new year like a Times Square atmosphere, in the clubs, or at home and then go out to party. What is the temperatrure like in December/January? Can one still go to Niagara Falls and not freeze? I've been looking into Rio, but I've done that twice and my other option (Dominican Republic) is very family-oriented New Years Eve. Please let me know what's up with Montreal for those dates. Thanks!

I was in Montreal for New Years this year... at that time of year you dont want to be outside for more than 5 minutes. We had a 20 minute walk back to our hotel from the clubs and we kept ducking into whatever was open to warm up for a few minutes.
