I was watching Krod Mandoon on Comedy Central, and it occurred to me that in U.S. TV shows, heroes in fantasy TV shows almost always have American accents and villains English accents (such as the gay English actor Matt Lucas who plays the villain Chancellor Dongalor), and the heroes have American accents. Even when the heroes are foreigners, they use American accents (such as the Englishman Sean Maguire who plays the hero Krod Mandoon, and the luscious Australian Craig Horner who plays the Seeker in Legend of the Seeker). It's been almost 200 years since the British Royal Navy stopped kidnapping American sailors to serve on their ships!

So I'm just wondering, from anyone who's lived in Britain, on British TV shows, do villains have American accents and heroes British accents? In the only British fantasy show I watch, Torchwood, the hero is a luscious gay Scottsman who plays his role with an American accent!

I forgot to mention the Scottsman's name, John Barrowman :-b

More than Pretty! Barrowman

Has a Great Singing Voice!

I first became enchanted with him as one of Cole Porter's male love interests in the film

"DeLovely." Barrowman does an amazing renedition of "Night and Day."

This song is a beautiful and very demanding piece of music from the genius of Cole Porter.
