Users of this site and interested in coming to Fort Lauderdale to enjoy the gay life and strip clubs often ask where they can stay which is close to the bars. And the answer has always been - there are none - you need a car. There have been no accommodations in the area of Wilton Manors.

That is no longer true.

I have nothing to do with the ARAGON INN GUESTHOUSE, but friends of mine from up North just called to say they would be arriving in town and staying there. It is at 2520 N.E. 6th Avenue. I had never heard of it, so I went to check it out. http://www.aragoninn.com They opened in January 2008.

It has the perfect location for gay guests in Fort Lauderdale. It is on 6th Avenue N.E., which means the guesthouse is one block from Wilton Manors Drive, Georgie's Alibi, and all the other amenities of gay Fort Lauderdale; this is the Gay Village of the city. There are gay clothing and gay gift shops, coffee house, and restaurants of many different cuisines. The website says that there are 25 restaurants and bars within 10 minutes walk, and these would all be primarily gay. You would not need a car in the evening to go out for a drink, dinner, a pleasant evening. And it is no more than 5 minutes from Boardwalk stripper bar by car; and you probably could walk and it would be about the same distance as Gouverneur Hotel to Taboo in Montreal.

In this residential neighborhood, the owners bought three adjacent properties with small houses along 6th Avenue, removed the interior fences and put a wooden privacy fence all around the outside. Inside, they have landscaped with pool (the pool area is clothing optional), hot tub, fountain, secluded courtyards, and paths leading from one area to another. There are six rooms, spread among three buildings, and the rooms are fairly large and well appointed. This is in a quiet residential area which is just one long block from Wilton Manors Drive and commercial properties.

It would be interesting to hear from anyone who has stayed there.
