American Service Men Killed in Afghanistan

It was with great sadness that I read of the armed forces personnel that were killed in battle in Afghanistan yesterday. Can someone here put me at ease that the families of these soldiers will be looked after.

 

I know there was a great outpouring of financial support for those killed in New York city and I know it is their job to fight but I am not an American and I am unsure of how their families will be looked after. Is there somewhere to contribute to them or encourage the gov;t to look after them if they are not already?

 

Thanks for your help Didn't really want to bring the harsh reality of the world at war here but I thought there might be someone who knew the answers to my questions.

If they leave survivors, VA benefits are paid to spouses and children.
