Read this this morning at gay.com:

Three Gay Men Beheaded In Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arbian authorities have executed three gay men convicted in a religious court of sodomy. The three men were executed by beheading.

Arab News, the Riyadh newspaper, said the executions took place on New Year's Day in the city of Abha.

Ali ibn Hatan ibn Saad, Mohammad ibn Suleiman ibn Mohammad and Mohammad ibn Khalil ibn Abdullah were found guilty of "engaging in the extreme obscenity and ugly acts of homosexuality, marrying among themselves and molesting the young."

A Shariah court sentenced them to death and the judgment was confirmed by the high court and the Supreme Judiciary Council.

Creepy! The Koran doesn't even mention homosexuality, pro or con.

Take care, Les

This brief article is ambiguous as to whether the punishment was for homosexuality per se, as opposed to "molestation of the young." I believe that Saudi Arabia does not execute homosexuals in the absence of child molestation, in which case their penal system, at least in this regard, is not fundamentally different from that of the United States.

Also, it should be difficult for any American - or, for that matter, any Westerner - to become too sanctimonious over another nation's punishment of "morality" crimes, given that we imprison obsence numbers of adult citizens for no reason other than that they chose to ingest (or buy from, or sell to, other adults) substances which the government has arbitrarily declared to be verboten. We also incarcerate citizens if they gamble or engage in prostitution.

There is no difference between any of those laws and laws which criminalize homosexuality.

If by "homosexuality" you mean "homosexual acts," then it's true that laws criminalizing homosexuality are similar to laws criminalizing other voluntary actions such as the purchase of controlled substances. If by "homosexuality" you mean the status of being homosexual, then there is a difference -- unless you regard homosexuality as a matter of choice.

You're correct TT about the article not having sufficient information to come to a firm conclusion but it did include that they were tried in a religious court...a little creepy...and then beheaded...very creepy. I suppose compared to setting someone afire in 'old sparky'

as has been known to happen in Florida a quick chop might not be so bad.

Take care, Les:D

Is this the ultimate in giving head?

I'm no Islamic expert, but I believe the Koran specifies that those who practice homosexuality shall be put to death in one of three ways: beheading, stoning, or being thrown off a cliff. I'd pick the former, if I had the choice. I've heard of gay men and lesbians in Iran being thrown off cliffs.
