You should be able to see the difference between the unread and read icons for this one better? Does it work for you?

It works for me.

 

There is a form of blue-yellow colour blindness (with both coming out as grey), but I think the yellow is bright enough that the contrast should be clear for anyone.

Agreed...It's one of the compromise type of things.
