Now that we have been freed from the grasp of Barry I just want to say in advance that it is nice to see his pal Deej leave as well. I cannot even wish him the best as in his mind he always thinks he is.

Take care Deej ... you will never be missed. Your empty stories, your worthless suggestions, your horrible "porn star" interviews, and we cannot forget your silly moderating chores have all been unappreciated. Crawl back into your glass shell watch a lot of TV and eat a lot of pizza.

I hope you will stay away for good this time.

disclaimer: sadly the above statement is only a fantasy ... the a-hole hasn't announced he is leaving, yet }>

I used to enjoy some of your posts, others I found disinteresting to me personally, and still others I was puzzled by why you posted them. I generally had a positive view of you.

I know you have issues because you have posted so on this board and I thought that was a courageous action on your part. However, it seems that you are bent, for the present, on presenting your dark side to the community and I have taken a strong dislike to your posts since your initiation of the thread "Don't give a damn about my bad reputation -though wondering". I don't know enough about you as a person to take a dislike to you or not but I have no taste for the attitude you are presenting at present.

I do not expect this post to cause reform on your part, it may be partially beyond your control in the near term. -- if you were honest about your issues. But if this is the cause I urge you to seek the help you need to get beyond your current crisis. I definitely like the old IM_Moore's posts better.

Tampa, I agree with you for the most part regarding IM's posts, although I don't recall ever finding ANY of them interesting. I think

we have seen hints of his personality all along and now for whatever reason he's showing us even MOORE. I find his posts to be juvenile and petty. When it comes right down to it, who cares? This is yet another one whose absence would be greatly appreciated.

I, personally, am kinda' worried about IM. I appears as though we are seeing a meltdown in progress. A gradual decompensation. I'm serious about being worried. I feel like I'm witnessing the free-wheeling spin of a manic depression on a swing up. Quite disturbing, especially not being able to intervene.

I was not aware that Barry or any other moderator was leaving. Where was this news posted?

I've always liked Barry, but I recognize that others may have different opinions. You should feel free to express yours. There are a few posters who will take it upon themselves to lecture and reprove you whenever your opinions depart from the rather narrow range that they consider acceptable. They enjoy sitting in judgment on others, though some of them are quick to label as "judgmental" anyone who criticizes a poster of whom they approve. My advice would be to ignore them and say what you wish. I always do.

Ben, you may well be... this does appear to me consistent with the usual signs I have observed up close and personal.

Quite disturbing, especially not

>being able to intervene.

Ben, if this is in fact the circumstance then there is nothing you can do, here or in person, to influence this situation. The downard spiral will continue until the individual himself seeks outside intervention or if circumstances degenerate beyond a certain point, until the local authorities intervene or facilitate outside intervention.

A lot of people in the field of Psychiatry believe that "insanity" or "mental illness" are illusory terms, used primiarily to compel obedience and comportment with social norms. Anyone who deviates from the Accepted Perspective is labelled "insane," and then measures are taken, often forcibly, to compel adherence to those norms. Those measures previously included forced incarceration, and now usually include behavior-modifying and thought-modifying medications.

I think your reaction to IM_Moore's admittedly Jekell-and-Hyde behavior illustrates that syndrome nicely. When he's on his knees, begging for help and confessing weakness and defect, then everyone rushes to declare him heroic and glorious. But when he asserts himself and decisively expresses opinions which diverge from those which the majority here believe to be correct, then people start mulling around and publicly declaring him, with condemnation, to be mentally ill.

I don't think your doing so is malicious, but it is illustrative of the abuse by all sorts of communities of notions of "mental health" in order to compel people to act and think in accordance with required forms of behavior and thought.
