I see that many recommendations here are to go to Silom or a club but I don’t really feel very comfortable as I am alone  Any recommendations of ways to hire online? Beyond rentmen! I’ve looked around rentmen too and if you have recommendations of previous hires that would be great!

You might want to check out the Gay Bangkok section on gayguides.com.  You might find some useful information there.  Also, you can do quite well using the apps: Grinder, Hornet, and Jack'd are the most popular in Bangkok at the moment.
