Does anyone know of any travel clubs for singles?

Posted

Do you mean gay singles? And serious (i.e., not DisneyWorld) travel? If so, I'd like to know about them, too. There are several agencies that organize trips for gay men, but I don't think there's an emphasis on singles. This is a good question.

Indeed, it is a good question. I would also be interested in learning of any Travel Clubs/Agencies that offer opportunites for singles and singles-oriented travel. It's so frustrating always being slapped with that constant penalty clause in the fine print: "based on double occupancy". Lots of us singles out here -- seems to me someone could do quite well catering to our needs for a change.

In keeping with the topic, does anyone know of a travel club for singles to Thailand? Have heard that there is one who specializes in trips to Bankock and to Pattaya?

If you're looking for action, one of the best Thai experiences is provided by:

Tours to Paradise

P.O. Box 3656

Los Angeles, CA 90078-3656

Phone: 213-962-9169

Fax: 213-962-3236

Email: [email protected]

I've been on two trips with them, one escorted by the agency's owner, Sam Jones. The days are typically filled with "cultural activities," the nights by visits to the best clubs and host bars. A typical itinerary includes visits to Bangkok, Pattaya and Chiang Mai.

Sam always books single rooms for his customers and always chooses hotels that permit "unregistered visitors" after hours.

You can choose to travel alone or with a group of about 12-15 guys. Most of Sam's customers are in their 50's -- a few are considerably older. Many book trips with him every year.

Add-on trips to places like Bali, Vietnam, and Phuket (Thailand) can also be arranged.

Just checked: Their website is working at http://www.tours-to-paradise.com. It doesn't, however, say much about the evening activities. I strongly recommend that you get a copy of "Men of Thailand" which is sometimes available through Amazon.com. It's one of the best gay travel books ever published and provides full details of the host bar scene and gay "culture" in Thailand.
