MikeThomas Posted June 22, 2024 Posted June 22, 2024 Klute… What a great movie! Nice to see Donald and Jane together. I remember when it came out. Haven’t seen it in years. Well worth revisiting. Rod Hagen and thomas 2
Johnrom Posted June 22, 2024 Posted June 22, 2024 Loved him in Ordinary People/. Great story online about how Donald Sutherland took 35k salary to be in animal house. He wanted 200 k. The producers wanted a star. They offered him 2 percent of the gross instead of a salary. He declined. The budget was only a few million and the movie made 150 million, Which was huge back in those days. When all was said and done over the years he missed out on a 20 million payday one article said. Check out the story online. Becket and musclestuduws 1 1
MikeThomas Posted June 22, 2024 Author Posted June 22, 2024 Ordinary People… a great movie, but a tough watch. Viewing once was enough. pubic_assistance, Johnrom and thomas 1 2
BSR Posted June 23, 2024 Posted June 23, 2024 Yes, he was great in Klute. Then again, he was a great in a lot of things, too many to list. Two of my favorites were the silly but entertaining Dirty Sexy Money as the patriarch of a multibillionaire family and The Rosary Murders, an imperfect thriller worth watching for Sutherland's performance alone. DS struck me as a real actor's actor, someone who loved the work and the craft. He leaves behind a hella impressive body of work. thomas, Rod Hagen and Johnrom 2 1

I can watch the scenes with Timothy Hutton and the psychiatrist over and over. Makes me weepy every time. Johnrom, MikeThomas, thomas and 1 other 2 2
Johnrom Posted June 23, 2024 Posted June 23, 2024 Yes. Judd Hirsch was fantastic as the psychiatrist in the film. thomas, Becket and Rod Hagen 2 1
pleasureseeker Posted June 23, 2024 Posted June 23, 2024 Definitely Ordinary People comes to mind as well as The Eye Of The Needle where he's such a great villain and Don't Look Now for the best edited sex scene on film and its consistent super creepy atmosphere. Of course I haven't seen these films in decades so I'm not sure how they fare today.
Rod Hagen Posted June 27, 2024 Posted June 27, 2024 (edited) I definitely should not have watched Ordinary People, I was too young to process it. Give her the Goddam Camera! I hear that in Don't Look Now, great movie, when Julie Christie (so beautiful and talented) and Sutherland were naked and getting ready in their bathroom in the evening, originally you see Sutherland's cock, but it was so big that for the rest of the movie the audience in Test Screenings wouldn't see the rest of the movie the same way, they'd giggle. And so, in the final edit, no cock shot. That's what I remember hearing anyway. Don't Look Now, SO GOOD. Edited June 27, 2024 by Rod Hagen Johnrom and thomas 1 1
