Singer Eric Carmen dead at 74

Singer Eric Carmen passed away in his sleep this past weekend at the age of 74, according to a statement released by his wife Amy yesterday. Carmen was the lead singer for the group 'The Raspberries' in the early 70s before striking out on his own as a solo singer by the mid-70s.  Carmen (one of my favorite male singers) had top 40 hits such as 'All By Myself', 'Never Gonna Fall In Love Again' and 'Hungry Eyes'.  His 1977 album 'Boats Against The Current' is considered by many as one of the best albums of the 1970s.

I was sad to learn about this.  I got on to Eric in the late 80s with “Make Me Lose Control” and “Hungry Eyes”.  May he rest in peace…. 

So many of the people I grew up listening to have gone… <sigh>
