When I wrote that he was a mess I was recalling his condition during a session that took place years ago.  I believe he was high because he was distant, wandering physically and mentally.  He never engaged.  He was in the room, but not in any significant or memorable way available to participate in anything with me*.  He was a tragic mess. A beautiful young man spun out for whatever reason into his own orbit around another planet.
