So I'm in my local moderately upscale supermarket today, browsing the seafood/shellfish counter. :p

I saw that they had uncooked shrimp, 13 to 15 count per pound, priced at $9.99.

A little way down the counter, I saw that they had cooked shrimp, 13 to 15 count/pound, priced at $19.99.

I inquired and was told it was not a mistake.

Lemme see. The cost of a pan of water + the cost of shrimp boil + the cost a cook for about 5 minutes.

Jeez, I guess I'm lucky that they can do it for $10. x(

Whilst buying clams Thursday, I noted that ALL the shrimp, no matter what kind or where it came from, was 18.99/lb. I recently read a disturbing article which declared that the World's oceans will be pretty much fished out within the next 40 years (including krill, which is becoming popular in the Far East as larger living things become scarce).

Oh well. You can take the shrimp out of the cocktail, but we can still have cocktails!
