Flame thrower in the 1970s, especially in the All Star games. American league batters hated to face him.

Sadly he suffered a stroke in practice with the Astro team. Richard tried for a comeback in the minor league. For a time he was homeless in Houston. Where he was often recognized.

He became more religious,  and even became a mister.

Nice man and extraordinary major league pitcher.
