Charlize Theron has a played mom, sure – rather memorably in "Tully."

Of course, she's also a mom of two adopted children. But the role of Wonder Woman's mom?

At 43, she's nine years older than "Wonder Woman" star Gal Gadot, 34. Someone obviously got the math wrong when she revealed on

this week that she was offered the role of Wonder Woman's mother.

"This is a great example of how Hollywood like slaps you in the face when you start aging," she said.

I must say she already played the witch in a new version of Snow White.

It is, after all, called acting.

Jessie Royce Landis was eight years older than Cary Grant, but played his mother in North by Northwest. Cathleen Nesbitt was 16 years older than Cary, but played his grandmother in An Affair to Remember.

And let's not forget that Estelle Getty was a year younger than her "daughter" Beatrice Arthur.

Am I? I was reacting to Charlize Theron's opinion that Hollywood was "slapping her in the face" by considering her to play the mother of someone only nine years younger than her.

I understand in porno DILF, and cub having a different meaning but when it comes to Hollywood sometimes for no reason they represent folks in an unrealistic way.

From the movie "127 hours"

This are the girls that hang out with him before that boulder fell on his arm.

Here the actual girls, and that's a good picture... obviously they're not as sexy as the actresses playing them. In the movie he doesn't even have sex with any of them.

In the interests of gender equality, I would just point out before someone else does that the real Aron Ralston hardly stands up (as if many of us would) to a comparison with James Franco who plays him. I have not seen the film but it is a very remarkable story and it seems, judging by your comment, sex appeal did not have much to do with the cinematic version either.

Exactly that’s why I wonder why those two actresses were selected when the real people involved in the story better represent an average looking American white girl.

You’re right Franco doesn’t look Nordic like Aaron Ralston just like Emma Stone doesn't resemble someone called Capitan Allison Ng (Nguyen) in the movie Aloha. For those who don't know over 40% of Vietnamese have the last name Nguyen.

Stage actors and actresses often perform in revivals of musicals and plays cast in roles they once created in New York.

Examples include Rex Harrison, Yul Brynner and Gwen Verdun. Harrison was elderly during the last revival. His stage mother was almost one hundred years old.

But on Paradise Island they are thousands of years old. So they age well. I don't see how her being 9 years older in real life is that big of a deal.
