Going away for Christmas...suggestions?

I've decided I want to start going away somewhere the week of Christmas. I'm one of those with no family, friends, or partner to spend the holidays with.

 

So instead of sitting around the house doing nothing, I want to get away for the week. Typically. I'd probably jet off to someplace that doesn't even celebrate Christmas. The only caveat is I want to take my dog with me. He's a 6 y/o Boxer, very well trained and friendly.

 

I started checking out vacation rentals on the web and found some nice oceanfront homes and cottages that were pet-friendly. I was wondering if anyone lives at or has been to any beach communities on the East Coast that are pet-friendly. If so, can you recommend places to stay or other options?

 

I'd like to go for a week to 10 days. Prefer a larger house rather than a condo (for privacy and quiet) and want easy access to a beach that permits dogs. It does not need to be a gay or gay friendly community, though that would be a plus.
