Is anyone else hooked on the new Showtime series "Dexter" (http://www.sho.com/site/dexter/home.do)?

Michael C. Hall, who played the gay brother on "six Feet Under," has hit the gym for this role, in which he plays a character who works as a blood splatter analysts for the Miami PD, and in his spare time is a serial killer who kills only other serial killers who the police can't convict. The characters are multi-faceted, and the show deals with irony and paradox in a near-Wagnerian way. The premise sounds so absurd, but it really is a great show.

And I can't believe how hot Hall has become! (Or maybe was all along--I don't remember seeing him shirtless in Six Feet Under.)

Showtime has the first two episodes available in streaming video on the website. And just when I was going to cancel the premium channels!

The insider word-of-mouth has been loud and firm and, after some resistance, I took advantage of pay-per-view and watched the show from the beginning. I'm impressed. Everything about the show is top-notch and the dry-wit writing is very good. This role is a big winner for Hall, who is sexier than ever. The blowjob scene I saw this week was quite interesting.

Showtime is definitely giving HBO a run for the money. Competition is good for the viewers, good for entertainment industry, too.

I'm a big fan of the show, too. I missed the blowjob scene, though. Which episode?

I just watched episode 4 and I must have gotten an edited (highly edited) version, because I thought the blow job scene was boring. It reminded me of how I think most women view blow jobs, one bob and yer done!!!

Hmm, thanks for the warning. I watch about one hour of television a month; I'm glad I didn't waste one on that show. :)

The (fully clothed) blow job scene was neither graphic nor particularly erotic. The awkwardness of it was meant to depict the discomfort of both characters with their sexuality. Dexter's definitely one show not to watch for sex or sexy scenes (although as I mentioned before, Michael C Hall does plenty of shirtless scenes and he is quite nice to look at).

For complex characters and ironies and bizzare plot twists, well, it's a great show. The most-watched show on Showtime, I read today. But not particularly sexy.

And THAT is why I used the word "interesting" to describe the blowjob scene.

Men who look for sexually gratifying eroticism in high-concept art and drama: priceless. :-)
