RE: What would you do? (NYC Clients Preferred)

Im not a NYC client, but I never posted here before and this is a great topic.

Scott,

Not surprised that happened to you, but with all the circumstances (storm, verbal "agreement"etc.) I am surprised that you were not compensated. Its pretty messed up to have someone use the promise of money, and then not step up to the plate. Its just the same when an escort insinuates that they will perform certain acts and then dont. The bottom line is that this guy took advantage of you and it sucks even more because you went through all that trouble.

To me, the money that you are speaking of would not be a tip (per se) but more like a compulsory gratuity, ONLY because he stated that with his comment.

My policy of tipping is that I never really expect it and actually dont even think about it. The amount of money that is charged is high enough and I know alot of guys who save up and get the exact amount. I had a client (guy in his early 30's) who saved up and when I was in NYC called me for an appointment. After the session was over, he settled up and I noticed that he had almost no money left in his wallet (a few bills--mostly ones). He went in and pulled out a ten dollar bill and gave it to me, thanking me for being kind, etc. I told him that the gesture of him trying to give me the $10 was worth much more than my fee and it made me feel great.

I guess its kind of like the story of the Widow's Mite (spelling?).

I sometimes think I dont deserve a tip because I already charged full price for the service and the price was high enough. When I go beyond what the person dreamed of, I just feel like I did a really good job, but still dont think I deserve a tip.
