Well, I finally got my first taste of Texas BBQ. It IS everything they say it is and a little bit more. Ate at a place called Rudy's - highly recommended. Thanks Ben.

Now you are talking my language. I make a special trip to Austin, Texas once a year to feast on Hill Country barbecue. The next time you are in the area here are some other great places to try:

Artz Rib House - 2330 S. Lamar Blvd., Austin

For my money the best in Austin itself.

Black's Barbecue - 208 N. Main STreet, Lockhart

Great pork ribs

City Market - 633 Davis Street, Luling

Prime Rib is outstanding. Served on butcher paper without

forks - you eat it with your fingers.

Cooper's Old Time Pit Bar-B-Que - 604 W. Young Street, Llano

As far as I'm concerned best all around in the area.

Louie Mueller Barbeque - 206 W. Second Street, Taylor

The brisket here is to die for

You will need a car to get to these places. They are all fun and everybody is friendly and helpful.
