I've read that the 20 minute HIV tests are 99.6 percent accurate. And I've seen them available behind the counters at pharmacies. Is anyone starting to just test their date and get filled up with cum?

This HIV tests looks for the antibody, not the virus. Someone recently infected will be full of virus but have a negative antibody test. The two times a person with HIV is most contagious (i.e. loaded with virus) is during the primary infection (when he has no antibodies) and during the terminal stage when the immune system has failed.

And, as for the "99.6% accurate" rate for the test, I think that is rather optomistic. Most independent tests rate antibody tests as being 95-98% accurate, at best, and the "quickie" tests are usually at the lower end of that. And, as previously stated, the fact that someone doesn't have the antibody does NOT mean they don't have the virus and can pass it to you.

But even assuming the 99.8% is correct, that means 2 chances in 1,000 someone would test negative and still be positive. Have you ever bought a lottery ticket? If you have, then you are assuming a one chance in more than 1,000,000 WILL come in for you. Yet, you're willing to gamble a 2 chance in 1,000 WON'T come in, when the stakes are catching a chronic and possibly fatal disease? Reality check time!

PS: With the AIDS epidemic now 25 years old, the very idea that someone even ASKS this question makes it clear that recent education efforts have fallen short. A sad commentary, at a time when the CDC seems to be pushing for less funding to be used for such efforts.

What's even more sad is that the person that asked this question is soliciting advice about escorting in Las Vegas in the "Ask an Escort" forum!

No, sad would have been if he said that he was doing the behavior mentioned, which he didn't. Remember there is such thing as a stupid question. OK...there really are stupid questions, but I didn't think his was. Hopefully, he got the good advice he needed from Unicorn and bighugbearphx.

Meant to say: Remember there is NO such thing as a stupid question.

Thanks, the only way in with me is a covered wagon so it's not something I would do. I here lots of people talk and myths about things like this and the gene that protects you from hiv and I just wonder what other people think about it.
