Side note regarding this, I was 18 years old in October 1977, and on my own in DC while visiting my older brother who promptly gave me 50 bucks and sent me into the streets to fend for myself to get me out of his hair. I somehow ended up at the Cinema Follies Clubs in the theater it was Friday afternoon Oct 21. And I remember "Hot Truckin" was playing and I was transfixed on Mr. Grant. I only spent maybe 30 minutes there, I had to fend off the advances of older men who would be my generational partners in the present day lol. I flew back home to Florida that weekend and that Monday, Oct 24 news came out about the infamous fire that killed those 9 men trapped in the theater. I saw this as an omen and swore off being gay for about 2 months. One of the many close calls in my life, I remember feeling bad that some of the men I rejected may have been victims of the fire.

I think many of us will remain on the sideline for now. I do see opportunists amongst the clients bartering more cash for less safety or taking advantage of the desperate times with the providers. Just because its a business transaction does not give you a license to exploit.
