I agree. It's very impractical for me to host so as long as they don't hold anything back I cut them some slack. Ok supposin' you politely turn a guy down because he's too expensive, expecting it to end there, and he comes back with a lower rate - you accept and the meeting goes really well. You want to hire the guy again. Do you assume the lower rate applies for any followup meetings? Do you ask him? Do you pay the higher rate (assuming you think he's worth it)? All three options seem to have drawbacks to me. Any ideas?
