I agree with your supposition. For me, it’s not really about making sure they look prestine, but rather making sure they don’t look or feel worn out...

Well, the lamp shades are linen so I am not surprised that they need to be replaced. Leather couch gets a lot of ... well ass traffic - very comfortable.

My expectations are pretty much on par with what @7829V outlined. Even when you ask the masseur (and you can and should ask what he offers) your mileage may vary. This is one of the reasons why it is so difficult for me to recommend a masseur - I can never be sure my experience will be your experience... If I ‘recommend’, then I am pretty sure. If I indicate ‘satisfactory’ then I had a good experience, but not sure it will be the same for everyone.

I was talking with a buddy yesterday, about replacing some of my home furnishings (mattress no longer in prime condition, leather couch showing its age, floor lamps starting to look ratty) and he mentioned the “10 year rule”. Apparently there is a rule that most soft furnishings need to be replaced about every 10 years, you should not expect their lifespan to exceed that... As gay men are considered experts when it comes to the 4 F’s, I figured this is the right crowd to ask: is that really a rule or did he just make it up?

The water in my city is pretty good - they publish frequent testing reports and the water testing stations are everywhere. Always pass federal and state requirements - I’ve actually studied the reports after Flint, MI came to light. (Q: when is the last time you checked the report for your city??) I do use a Brita pitcher with filter, but that is just my preference, really no need. Keep some bottled water in the fridge but that is for guests only.

Did you run a search for his name? Discussed here many times before, as recently as a few months ago. Positive comments from trusted contributors like @rickp, @Seaninsf , and @KeepItReal .
