I have a lot of mixed feelings about GLPs. As a bodybuilder, I know lots of guys who have taken them on cuts before contests. And I also know lots of guys who don't compete, don't need GLPs and take them anyway.
For some people, they are the right choice. They shouldn't be shamed for making that choice regardless of whether it is the right choice or not. Some people who take them do so because they have real medical conditions that prevent them from managing their weight in more fun and ideal ways. The problem is, I think people who take GLPs and actually need them are in the minority. If you're not significantly "obese" and having health problems downstream, I don't think there's a good reason to take them. And even if you are "obese," there might be nothing wrong with that. Depends on your body, your health markers (bloodwork, vitals, etc), and how you feel irrespective of how popular culture and marketing make you feel.
We're just starting to learn about the long-term effects, and I'm deeply concerned about the aggressive and shady marketing tactics being used to push these drugs. 12% of Americans have or are injecting GLPs! That's too many. A great many of them are doing so because of 1) aggressive marketing by providers; 2) body-shaming in pop culture; 3) we just haven't done a good enough job as a society of teaching and sharing fun and effective ways to work out and make delicious healthy meals.
If you're gonna take them and they aren't medically necessary, please at least be very careful. Keep the doses low, and make sure you still have healthy balanced meals. Loads of guys lose muscle quicker than fat on GLPs because they cut back too hard on calories and end up skipping protein often.
