The surprise was Ralph Richardson in "The Wild Duck.". I knew Richardson was a famous and beloved actor, but not much else. I was spellbound from the beginning. (1980) Biggest disappointed was the out-of-town tryout of "Funny Girl" in Boston. (1964) -
How many actors/actresses do you know? Without at least some talent (acting, especially), connections ONLY don't help much.

Actual Broadway musical stars make demands. Mary Martin required a full-time limo,fresh flowers to give out at the stage door, and and a new designer gown each month to met her "many" fans.

It is also about talent, acting and singing talent plus perseverance. And being in the right place at the right time.
