I sat next to lady who was in the original production of 'South Pacific." Bernice Sanders. I expected her to have problems with the revival. but no she loved it. All told, she was in three musicals with Mary Martin. Totally understandable. Bernice was confused that she had to remind Mary often of her name. Then Mary Martin finally wore contact lenses & know nearly everyone's name. But, Mary was clearly the star. Something I noticed also the one tome I met Martin.
