  1. A bad sign ... of what? As I said, he's pretty new, his hourly rate is not exorbitant, and if he settles on an overnight rate that is too high for me, I'll simply decline. I've seen the discussions about clients and providers who haggle over an already-established price, and I would never do that. He's just trying to consider what's fair, what the market is like, and how other providers think about this. I'm curious, too.
  2. I've become a regular client for a relatively new provider in SF. We get along really well. I've booked him for 1-hour and 2-hour appointments, but I'm interested in trying a longer visit, maybe including dinner or a movie in addition to play time, and eventually, if things keep going well, an overnight. I asked him about his rates for longer appointments and overnights. He laughed and said he hasn't figured that out yet. I told him I would ask people here for their input on this. Clearly, a 10-hour overnight is not going to be 10 times the rate of his 1-hour appointments, but does a provider's hourly rate typically start to drop at, say, a 3-hour dinner+play appointment? In other words, at some point, if it's not going to cost me any more for an overnight, I might as well ask for that. I've read many of the comments on this topic in this forum, going back several years, and I understand that an overnight is a qualitatively different experience, as it involves sleeping, possibly snoring, decisions about morning activities, alone-time, etc., and that's all fine. The provider and I are both happy to start gradually, adding some BFE to our current get-togethers to see how well that works. It would just be nice to know how some providers structure their rates.
