Yep, started the thread 7 years ago and it's true. Gas prices where from 89 cents to $1.29 a gallon in the Nothern Virginia/DC area.

Now they are between $3.99 to $4.40

  3. RE: Gas Prices in Your area, Let's hear about it

    >How much is your father paying for gas now? I don't own a

    >car but I see the prices at the pumps in NYC and they're

    >pretty steep. I think it would be cheaper to have a two hour

    >session with you than to fill up a van...and I know I would

    >rather get pumped by you than by Exxon!!!

Well gas prices here in the DC area vary greatly. DC is about 1.90 a Gallon. Maryland is 1.80 a Gallon and Northern Virginia is 1.70 to 1.75 a gallon. My dad who lives 18 miles south of me is paying 1.66 a gallon. I really feel sorry for the airlines. I can't even imagine what it would be like to fill up one airplane. When I flew back from Spain the other day I was like...I wonder how much it cost them to fill this baby up.

Temple, Georgia has the cheapest gas in the country right now and they stand at 1.29 a gallon. Whew!!! What a difference!

  4. Wow thanks guys for your input. And I never thought about real estate costs ect.

You poor guys out West are getting ripped off. :(

For me I just go to the nearest gas station down by my apartment here in Alexandria, VA. But I just cannot believe the price differences out west. And the taxes they impose. There should be some kind of limit.

If any one else has comments lets hear about them :)

I hope all of you are doing well.

  5. This can be quite interesting...

I have brought up this topic before. And I find it quite amazing how gas prices can vary from just a few miles. I live in Alexandria, VA where the gas prices for Regular is 1.28 a gallon. But where my Dad lives just 12 miles South of me it is $.89 cents a gallon for Reg unleaded. Now in Washington DC just 3 miles North of me it is still $1.43 a gallon. And I know the poor people in San Francisco are still paying close to the 2 dollar mark for gas. That is totaly insane.

What in the hell are the Gas companies doing? x( What are you paying in your area.

    I am just curious.
