Been to Thai Wellness a few times before. Good experience.
I saw a new guy on the website Kevin. so I booked him at 7:00. I showed up 5 minutes late - my fault.
When I saw Kevin - that should have been red flag #1. The dude is probably 20 years older than his picture on the booking website. Not catfish I guess, because it technically was him, though.
The massage actually started 5-10 minutes AFTER the scheduled time. I got butt naked and I asked him to get me water because I was already naked. He said "hot or cold" I said "lukewarm" and he looked at me blank for a second and brought me hot water.
Should have been red flag #2. This guy does not speak English. I said I want deep tissues massage. He looks at me blank. He says okay. " I said "okay deep tissue pressure right?" He says "ok medium pressure."
I really want the massage to focus on my ass and thighs and I want to flip over halfway thru. Not all therapists do the 1/2 way flip over. I asked him can we do half on the back, half on the front. He looked at me blank.
This is LA, lots of people don't speak english, its really not a major problem. I pulled my phone out and typed into Google translator app to translate to Thai. I said in the app, "I want deep pressure on my buttocks and thighs and I want to flip over halfway thru." I don't think he understood what a phone translator app even is. He look at me blank and handed my phone back to me.
I guess he knows a few words and phrases related to his job but he is not fluent or conversational in english. He knows "hot/cold" but he doesn't know "lukewarm"
I hate not being listened to but I don't think this guy even knew the language to listen to me or even made any attempt to hear what I was saying.
The massage ended BEFORE 8:00pm. I know it's my fault for being late, and taking a minute to pee and get naked and getting water, so the time I lost at the beginning is on me. But the massage still should have lasted all the way until 8pm. That's what I paid for. Did he give me extras? Yea he did, but I still didn't tip him. I hate not being listened to. This dude made zero attempt to hear what I saying.
I go out to the front desk to pay. Credit card machine isn't working. I have to Zelle him. and when I did I found out his real name is not Kevin at all. I wont put his government name out there but it's something authentically Thai, not something I could pronounce. They just make up American sounding names when they get hear.
I have reviews about most guys at ThaiWellness.
