Sometimes a massage therapist will mention something about their lives during our session, and I'll then later see some article or something that I think may be useful information for them.  Maybe they're into regenerative gardening or dungeons and dragons or have a desire to visit a certain city.  Then I'll see something related to that and I'll want to share that information with them. Just a, "You mentioned you're into this, and here's this information" kind of message.  Do you think that crosses a line, in general?  I know it probably varies a bit from person to person, but as a general rule, yes or no on sharing something like that?

What about social media?  Just about everyone is on some platform.  Do you follow your massage therapist?

Just guard yourself from having any feelings towards said masseur (been there, done that - never again). I have a few of the masseurs in my social media - I asked and told them directy I’ll add the and they said yes.  Most are just that - an acquaintance on social media.

So, I took the plunge and Andre was great! He’s only been working there a month. Strictly therapeutic, at least at current, but very, very confident and well versed in Thai massage techniques. He started out a bit timid, but found his groove. And for $125 for a solid two hour massage, I didn’t miss the extras. I feel great!

I chuckled a bit at the “…at least at current”.  I’m in the mindset that if you are advertising on RentMasseur (rentmen adjacent) … “basics”, as we all know them, comes with the territory.  Unless, they really advertise therapeutic only.  Given Andre is not on RentMasseur and just on the TW website…i might, give it a pass for now.

truth be told, one such “i have my limits” jock asian rentmasseur early on, i heard, is now fully engaging in RentMen-esque activities if and when chemistry is there. Pseudo paid grindr experience for the masseur, i guess.

any experience with the other newish guy…Andy?

  3. Same here.  Used to go frequently 2 years ago (I then just used RMasseur for my massage and more needs)  … hit or miss on how far the extras are but I do remember the ones I got did massage well enough, so it’s not a total bust. I need to visit again soon.

Then I guess the question to put out there is if you only tip for above and beyond the expected service, what do you expect the basic service to be?
Do you think that everyone who advertises on Masseurfinder should at bare minimum offer a free happy ending?
Do you think that everyone who advertises on RentMasseur should at bare minimum offer a free happy ending and mutual touch?
How do you determine what is/should be included?
If it is matter of your own finances, then surely there should be less expensive masseurs who you could choose and then tip accordingly?
    Genuinely curious.

Regarding the bare minimum question - yes.  Why advertise on RentMasseur at all.

The assumption is that the final price includes everything that went into creating the product. I’d argue that’s not so, in this case, because a self employed masseur has to compete with the spas.  This can keep the price suppressed even though he has extra expenses like self employment tax (that’s 8% right off the top, assuming he claims the income).

Sometimes prices are so high that everything does seem baked in though. I agree that it can make me feel reluctant to tip in that scenario.

I hope we get to hear from OP on how he will proceed. No right or wrong here!

Last sentence is true and I agree. No right or wrong. Just personal opinions.

Oh — truth be told (from my POV - for the LA market), it’s the legit spas who are competing with these RMasseurs for the male massage market. A RMasseur former acquaintance of mine tried the legit “mobile massage” route (Soothe&Zeel) and after a month, he went back to RMasseur.  For the $$$. He legitimately knows how to massage but the $$ from being a “freelance masseur” (his spiel on grindr) outweighs being employed by burke williams.

Wouldn't it make sense for a massage therapist to just raise his fee and not accept tips?

And that is what I am seeing in the Los Angeles market (in general/not all) — fees are now astronomical (in my eyes). This is just from a Rentmasseur/masseurfinder POV.  I do not know the escort/Rentmen side, i have not (yet?) partaken in that sub-branch.

  7. Just my 2 cents. Or what I do now.

I’ve read and contributed to various “tipping” threads here in the forums throughout the 2-3 years since I’ve joined.

I usually tip earlier when this hobby was new to me, but lately, it’s just the advertised/quoted rate now.

I’m located in Los Angeles, if that matters. The $120/60min has ballooned (I started late 2021) to $150 (2022/2023) and now  $160/$180 and even $200 for your basic 60mins.

At a spa… a masseur that does not advertise on RMasseur of Masseurfinder (or any other gay massage site) - I would tip them almost to the level of an independent. Since they get only a % of what I actually paid at the lobby.

At a spa … but he advertises in M4M websites and all the independent sensual/erotic masseurs (real masseurs and the rub-and-tuggers) —- their published and quoted rates only.

I have a good paying job but $180/$200 an hour … i am not a lawyer or a doctor or whatever job out there that pays this much per hour.  Rent and supplies, yes it’s the masseur’s overhead but for me (for me, my opinion)… the high price now is maybe due to inflation and it might be because I have paid $180-$200 for their $150 price tag then, which makes them energized to now basically pricing themselves at $200   Since they already get it and most are paying.

long post made short - I only pay the independents their advertised/quoted price.

I've heard from 2 sources that Amorr gives a good massage sans eXtras

That was my experience as well. But that was when they first opened. Maybe he has learned that hiring off of rentmasseur “may” mean something more.

Any Oliver experiences? Or what’s his name here (he moonlights at the Silverlake thai gay spa as well).  The one with the glasses.

  9. I went to him once during the summer — he travels (not for work) a lot so his responses might be delayed.  Best to check if his profile is online or at least active recently.
The pictures are of him.  That’s him.  B+ to A massage.  It’s a real massage and not just a rub.  He started massaging in a jock strap but I could have asked for him to go sans underwear from the get go (is what he told me).  Plenty of good extras though best to expect YMMV. I might have caught him at a good time.  West Hollywood apartment, street parking

  10. You are better off getting him via rentmen or for that purpose.  I hired him as a masseur (via rentmasseur) when he was here in Los Angeles a few weeks back and the massage was where you wished you would have just gone to a local legit spa.  It was more fun, fooling around and play (sans FS - though FS via RMasseur might be YMMV) than an actual massage … barest of oil/loton rub. He has an OF as well.  I, personally, won’t book him as a masseur if he’s in the area again.

  11. For me, just an oil rub … then mechanical dot dot dot.  He is raking it in, from what he subtlely let slip. I saw him at his apartment in OC within this year.

I have been using this phrase a lot lately with these masseurs — you take what it is and what it can only be.

Maybe ymmv now, who knows  i haven’t been back

he is a cute one though

  12. Reporting!

Saw him last night. Therapeutic was not selected in his profile — so the massage was a deeper swedish-esque motion. A case of “Rmen advertising on RMasseur” situation.  He tries.  A bit chatty but friendly. Oh, it was a bed massage at a Koreatown hotel. Traveller. A bit naive and a new transplant from his country but that is not what I am reviewing.

What i mentioned above in my earlier post — all yes. Everything but FS.

The pictures are him BUT the face in the photos are super (smoothly) filtered. Body was awesome - the pics are true. Oh, not 5’10”.  Maybe 5’8” at most? Not sure but he does not look 5’10”.

It’s him though so it’s not 100% catfish. He looks early 30’s but when we started talking and his mannerisms … ah yes, late 20’s.  And I was correct.

English is not his strong suit so please talk slowly in person to him.  And he smokes.  I smoke as well so that wasn’t a problem.  Just ask him “do you smoke? Yes? Do you mind brushing your teeth first or chew gum?” if kissing is an ok activity for you.

You take what it is and what it can only be.

*moderators, if I mentioned something that is not allowed, please let me know and I will edit the post*

  13. I got the same quote.  I might (and will) ask directly, via text, if MT, MN, HE and more is included.  But, knowing that he does not have therapeutic in the massage style option and only sensual/erotic checked (and a RMen account) then perhaps all are included, excluding “that”/fs.
