If this were a Democrat, Fox News would have made it their top story of the day.

"""The blowup with Scotto occured shortly after the President's State of the Union speech as he was being interviewed inside the Rotunda of the Cannon House Office Building, part of the Capitol complex.

When Scotto tried to turn the conversation to the investigation, Grimm told him, "I'm not speaking about anything that's off topic. This is only about the President," and he walked away.

But as Scotto was talking to viewers back in New York, the Congressman stormed back into the shot and told him off.

"Let me be clear to you, you ever do that to me again I'll throw you off this f-----g balcony," Grimm said.

"Why, why, I just wanted to ask you ...?" Scotto responded.

"If you ever do that to me again ...," the Republican shot back.

"It's a valid question," Scotto said in his defense, but Grimm replied: "No, no, you're not man enough, you're not man enough. I'll break you in half. Like a boy," according to the NY1 transcript. """

What Grimm did to the reporter is both reprehensible and a crime (if DC would consider it a misdemeanor or felony who knows). Maybe there will be another congressman reporting to a DC court soon and then resigning (like Radel from Florida). Don't know if the reporter has to file a complaint or if the DA can use the tape and some witness interviews and make an arrest, but there should be an arrest. People need to know that if you don't like a question that making threats of bodily injury (murder if in fact he did throw the reporter off the balcony) and physical intimidation isn't an acceptable response. Flipping off another driver (and no the reporter didn't do that and after watching the video seemed to be handling himself professionally) may not be a crime but road rage in response that leads to property damage and/or injuries is.

What would have happened if this Rethuglican had been packing?

If Fox News even covered the story (I'm never likely to know), I'll bet they'd defend Grimm as a hero who stood up to the bully lame stream media.

It has to have the party officials angered, though. They trotted out Cathy McMorris Rogers to give the response, apparently intending to put a nice face on the party. (And it worked. Rev. Al said "Nice lady, but she didn't say anything,") But what people will remember of the Republican side of the evening is this guy.

I nominate Grimm to be Chrisite's Veep choice for 2016.

I think you've matched them up well. What's disappointing is that their behavior is just fine to a lot of voters that put them in office (in some case repeatedly), and maybe those same people think their behavior isn't abrasive or offensive enough. I remember sending money to the campaigns against Eric Cantor and Alan West even though I don't live in either of their states. I found their personalities too offensive to warrant their election and consumption of taxpayer dollars - call it conduct unbecoming.

Politicians that behave shamefully have voters that should be ashamed. And by shameful I'm referring to threatening reporters (or anyone) with bodily harm, telling people to "shut up", etc. Shameful isn't policies or positions we don't agree with.

You are correct Justice, Grimm does not qualify for a Congressional pension until he has 5 years vested. Maybe some other perk?

However:

Grimm says he was resigning because he was not able to give the job his full attention anymore.

Kinda hard to focus on the job....when you're in PRISON!

After all cheating on taxes is not a real crime, right?:confused:

He came to Congress with the law-and-order image of a former FBI agent and left as an admitted tax evader headed for prison. His tenure was shadowed by a campaign fundraising investigation and punctuated by a threat to hurl a reporter off a Capitol balcony.

But former U.S. Rep. Michael Grimm says voters want him back in Washington, and he's hinting that he's going for his old job.
