I love the verbal play of American politics. Every season there are some, almost always inadvertent, wonderfully expressive statements which make you wonder what, or even if, the person was thinking at the time. Most of the verbal amusement this political season has come from the perennially verbally challenged Republicans, but one too delicious to miss is offered this morning by the irrepressible Teresa about people impacted by hurricanes:

"Clothing is wonderful, but let them go naked for a while, at least the kids," said Heinz Kerry, the wife of Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry. "Water is necessary, and then generators, and then food, and then clothes."

And of course the headline is: "Teresa: Let Hurricane Victims Go Naked; Need Water First." The comparisons with Marie Antoinette "Let them eat cake" are probably not far behind, at least in light hearted jest.
