The Sunday Los Angeles Times had an interesting article about the Log Cabin Republicans where the former mayor of a small town in Kerry's home states said that his party was putting "lipstick on a pig" with speakers such as John McCain and Rudi Guliani, who both spoke last night at Madison Square Garden.

I like John McCain, always have, likely always will. However, if he is what passes for a moderate, what does that say about the rest of the Republicans?

There is a really good site everyone on here should become familiar with, because it does an analysis for voting records (for those who have them, such as John Kerry and John Edwards). http://www.vote-smart.org

It covers a wide range of issues, from gun control to education, from conservative to liberal, and from business to environment, so anyone can get, based on votes, a very good sense of where their own congressperson actually is and how close their congressperson votes in allignment with a voters preference or opinion on individual issues as well as on a spectrum of issues (since so few single issue voters actually, genuinely exist).

John McCain's voting record can be reviewed here: http://www.vote-smart.org/issue_rating_category.php?can_id=S0061103
