MILWAUKEE – Thousands of supporters of John Kerry cheered the Democratic presidential candidate in a riverside park Monday night, overcoming a heckling pro-Bush contingent with the chant ``three more months.’’

The pro-Bush hecklers chanted ``four more years.’’

``They want four more years of hell,’’ quipped Theresa Heinz Kerry during her speech, to a roar from the Dem audience. Then she led them in a chant of ``three more months.’’

As to his wife’s quip, Kerry said: ``She speaks her mind, and she speaks the truth. And she’s quick on her feet.’’

Kerry also acknowledged the hecklers at one point, calling them "goons." And Kerry supporters once again chanted ``three more months.’’ Answered Kerry: ``Sounds good to me.’’

When Mrs. Kerry was speaking a scuffle occurred. A Kerry supporter attempted to raise a pro-Kerry sign in the midst of about 100 Bush supporters on a bridge to the south of the park. Immediately following that, a Kerry supporter attempted to knock a Bush-Cheney campaign sign into the water. Police on horseback broke up the scuffle. The Milwaukee Police Department declined to comment on if any arrests were made.
